Governance
I am an urban social geographer and planner with a research focus on institutional change shaped by the intersection of spatial planning, regulatory frameworks, and property investment dynamics—all of which play a key role in shaping urban spaces. My work aims to bring critical geographical scholarship into dialogue with planning theory, particularly as it relates to ‘neoliberal planning.’ I examine the impacts of property-led and market-driven urban development within the neoliberal context, approaching these issues from a political economy perspective. Through diverse methodological approaches, I explore emerging themes in planning such as ‘flexibility in planning,’ ‘entrepreneurial governance,’ and ‘fragment/opportunity-driven urban development.’ Ultimately, my research centers on relational governance as a foundation for addressing the pressing challenges of increasing inequalities, climate change, accessibility issues, and market-driven urban development.
