My research frames the question of environmental and climate justice by raising a twofold concern of urban flooding: the urgency to address flood adaptation in light of climate change and the necessity of placing it within the wider scope of spatial injustices related to urban water. It proposes the idea of ‘urban blue justice’ to investigate the production and transformation of urban blue spaces in the city-regions of Amsterdam and Mumbai in the global North and South, respectively, through a comparative analysis of spatial planning systems for urban water and their impact on everyday life. This doctoral study is a part of a larger interdisciplinary AISSR research titled ‘Planning Climate Justice in Urban Blue Spaces across the Urban North & South’.
