Exploring Urban Planning's Research Clusters

Maria, Luca and Tuna presented the key research themes and their interaction and role within the group. This was followed by an interactive session organized by PhD researchers Amal, Vikas and Fernando and moderated by Anna.

Parallel sessions

In groups of about ten, researchers gave a 3-5 minute presentation about their research followed by a 5-minute discussion. Moderators summarised the dominant research topics looking for overlaps so as to uncover what the unique contributions of the urban planning group are concerning societal issues.

Closing panel

Tuna, Maria, Luca and Mendel wrapped-up the day with reports on the parallel sessions and reflections on the group as a whole noting unique contributions and research gaps.

Parallel sessions

The aim of these four dynamic sessions was to learn about each others’ research, contemplate connections, uncover gaps and to generate ideas. Moderators were asked to seek out the dominant research topics, look for overlaps and to uncover what the unique contributions of the urban planning group are concerning societal issues.

Quick-fire insights

With ten people in each session, researchers were asked to prepare a five-minute presentation about their work. This was followed by five minutes of discussion before moving onto the next person. The four moderators were Luca, Maria, Mendel and Tuna.

Passionate research, lively discussion and brainstorming together is a winning combination leading to deeper insights and innovative solutions.
